Nike's longstanding partnership with Japanese fashion label Comme des Garcons continues this week with a timely shoe and an unorthodox launch. The Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Pegasus 83 will release on May 2 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art store in New York City.
The celebratory shoe's launch comes ahead of the May 4 opening of "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nike's announcing of the project is timed with Monday's Met Gala event.
The shoe sticks to the mostly black formula used elsewhere on CDG x Nike projects and uses gold lettering on the heel. Nike released a similar CDG pair in January, that one featuring white lettering on the heel instead.
