A Closer Look at Nike's First-Ever WNBA Jerseys

By

After a first look at renderings earlier this month, Nike's sharing more details behind the design of its first-ever WNBA jerseys.

The brand says its designers worked closely with WNBA players to fine-tune the uniforms to their specific needs. Fit was a priority, with women-specific scapula holes on jerseys and vents on shorts. Body cooling was also emphasized through the use of a closed-hole mesh backed with vents in areas prone to sweat and clinging.

Tech aside, the jerseys were designed to mimic the look of a player in motion through the use of split two-tone blocking and jagged angles. Similar to their NBA counterparts, each WNBA jersey comes in an Icon Edition variation which nods to the team's primary color and a Statement Edition style intended for big games and rivalries.

See the jerseys in action when the preseason tips off May 6 and take an exclusive closer look at select uniforms below.
