Adidas Originals Combines the NMD and Micropacer

By

Adidas isn't a brand that shies away from giving its archival classics modern makeovers. Recently, this has been on display with the ADV and A//D Collections, each consisting of past models reimagined with 'futuristic' details. Now, the Originals category is turning its attention toward a shoe that was far ahead of its time—the Micropacer.

Released in 1984, the Micropacer was a computerized sneaker that tracked performance as it was being worn. Thirty-four years later, the model's advanced status holds up, but Adidas is hitting refresh and blending it with a current icon. The result is the Futurepacer, essentially a Micropacer-meets-NMD hybrid. The exaggerated tongue tech panel and general running shape are still there, but heel and Boost cushioning setup are borrowed from the NMD.

The Futurepacer will release on Saturday, June 9 for $180 at adidas.com and Originals retailers.
