LeBron James' New Sneakers Pay Tribute to the Wild Style of Andre Agassi

By

Before NBA stars such as Russell Westbrook and James Harden set the tunnel on fire with their pregame outfits, there was Andre Agassi, the tennis icon who completely disrupted his sport's strict fashion code. While most event organizers encouraged 'clean' on-court attire, Agassi played in loose fitting polos bearing wild graphics, denim shorts and brightly colored Nikes, including the Air Tech Challenge 2. Most notably, he reached his first grand slam final at the 1990 French Open wearing the "Hot Lava" colorway, a matching polo and black denim shorts. The eye-catching colorway instantly became a must-have and is arguably the single most beloved pair in Agassi's signature line.

LeBron James, who previously saluted Bo Jackson and his Nike Air Trainer, is now tipping his cap to Agassi. Next up for the #LeBronWatch series is the "Tech Challenge" Nike LeBron 16, a white-based shoe highlighted by the Air Tech Challenge 2's black and "Hot Lava" detailing. 'Nike Air' branding on the heel further links the shoe to the golden era.

Look for the "Tech Challenge" LeBron 16 to release on May 24 for $200 at Nike Basketball retailers.

UPDATE (05/18): Along with the aforementioned white makeup of the "Hot Lava" Nike LeBron 16 is a contrasting black iteration launching via the SNKRS app on May 24 for $200 each. Check out the official images below.
